If you were waiting for the next wave of Chromebooks before jumping on the bandwagon, you have your chance starting on May 29th.
The second generation of Chromebooks have upgrades sure to entice those who quite weren’t ready to make the switch from conventional laptop computers.
Google reports that it will be two-and-a-half times faster than the original Chromebooks thanks to a more powerful Intel processor. Also, there’s better and higher-definition video capability included in the new models.
The new Samsung Chromebook Series 5 550 weighs in at 3.3 pounds and features a 12.1-inch (1,280-by-800 resolution) screen, Gigabit Ethernet, 4GB of memory, two USB 2.0 ports, a 4-in-1 memory slot, HD webcam, Kensington lock port, and a DisplayPort++.
The Chromebook Series 5 550, retails for $449 (Wi-Fi only) and $549 (Wi-Fi+3G).
The Samsung Chromebox Series 3 is also now available for purchase starting at
$329 and features 4GB of memory, Intel Core processor and Dual band 2.4/5GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi. Also included in the new mini PC are: Gigibit Ethernet port, six USB 2.0 ports, two DisplayPort++ jacks, DVI, and Bluetooth 3.0.
