Samsung Plans Chromebook Refresh & Chromebox Launch

Samsung finally released some Chromebook-related news at CES 2012. While it hardy classifies as earth shattering, we’ll take what we can get.

The Series 5 Chromebook will get a bit of a facelift. The cover will be more muted as opposed to slick and shiny and the logo will be more discreetly placed. There will also be a change in processors with the replacement of the Atom with the Intel Celeron.

Storage capacity stays at 16GB as does the price: $399 for the WiFi-only version, and $449 for the 3G.

Remember the Chromebox hype from last May? Samsung is now providing a few tidbits. It will be equipped with a wireless keyboard and mouse, contain a few ports which will include 5 USB 2.0 sockets, DVI, DisplayPort plus a headphone jack. Expect to pay $400.
