Aussies Anticipate Chromebook Release

While we have no official timetable for future Chromebook launches in other nations, it is clear that Australia is included on the designated list.

“Samsung Electronics Australia is planning to launch the Samsung Chromebook in the second half of 2011,” said a company spokesperson. “We look forward to sharing further details closer to launch.”

Acer made a similar statement with the launch date targeted for “mid to late quarter 3” of 2011.

Google has been pushing Google Apps and other cloud products in Australia primarily through its two Enterprise Roadshows held in June at the “Googleplex” in Sydney. Chromebooks were on display and awarded as prizes.

A similar event is planned for October 6th. Could this be the launch date Australians have been waiting for?
