Shipment of the Acer Chromebook is Delayed

The Acer Chromebooks or Chromias, scheduled to ship out on June 15th along with the Samsung Series 5 models, have been delayed according to recent reports.

An Acer spokesperson confirmed that there was indeed a delay, but offered no explanation, as noted in a blog from Computerworld.

The Acer models, as reported previously, are listed on Amazon.com for $379.99 for the Wi-Fi edition and $449.99 for the 3G version. The Chromia features an 11.6-inch (1366 x 768) display, Dual-core Intel Processor, 2GB of RAM, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150, 16GB SSD, 1.3-megapixel HD webcam, HD audio support, WiFi, 3G, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 HDMI port, memory card slot, and a battery life of 6 hours.

Google has not yet commented on the delay or issued any official statement.

The Silver Samsung’s seem to be backordered as well. The Wifi only version.

  4. Where is my Chromebook? I ordered Samsung-Chromebook / Intel® Atom™ Processor / 12.1″ Display / 2GB Memory-Titan Silver- they say this one is backordered too!

No info on when it might be shipped.

  5. Did your order your Chromebook from Best Buy or Amazon?
Amazon orders appear to be shipping on time. I’m not hearing much feedback from Best Buy customers, other than the items are backordered.
